Black Belt Promotions

On April 30, 2011 Cleber Luciano a third degree black belt and owner of
Cleber Jiu-Jitsu and MMA School in Huntington Beach, California, was
honored to promote two of his students Sean Cooper and Kevin Callahan
with belts and degrees.

Cleber promoted the first student Sean Cooper to second degree black belt.

Sean is the head instructoer and owner of Trainer’s Elite MMA
Jui-Jitsu of Austin< TX. Sean has been working for many yearsin mar
Brazillion Jui-Jitsu. He is a true believer in the sport. His martial
arts expertise combined with his experience and knoledge in physical
fitness have helped dtudents become champions.

Cleber presented the second student Kevin Callahan his first black belt. Kevin ia a U.S. marshall and a menmber of of the specail task force assigned to locate and capture fugitives. “You can run but you can’t hide from the newest black belt in town.”

Cleber took a trip up north to present Steve Redlions his Brazilian Jui-Jitsu Black Belt and certificate. It was a beautiful ceremony attendance including teammates and friends, Tom Knox and Chewy Yabarra to support him. Steave is a head coach for Redlions Jiu-Jitsu up in Clovis, California. His students have often competed in tournaments and recevie high awards in medals. Steve himself is a Pan American Champion. We are very proud of you Steve… WAY TO GO FRIEND…

Cleber Luciano, a 4th Degree
Royler Gracie Black Belt, is proud to announce the promotion of four
(4) students to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt! The following students
were presented with black belts and certificates at the annual holiday
& promotions party held on the evening of Friday, December 11th, 2009 at Cleber Luciano Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Huntington Beach, California:

• Daniel Sullivan
• Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos
• Steve Iseda
• Tom Knox

 

 

This latest class of Black Belts brings Cleber’s total number of Black Belts to twenty (20)!

Cleber also presented Tim Cartmell with his 2nd Degree stripes, as well as end tip stripes to other deserving Black Belts. The party included kid’s & adult’s stripe & belt promotions to the academy’s hard working students.

This year’s Black Belt class included a Mixed Martial Art (MMA) Fighter & a Professional Skateboarder ! ! ! MMA Fighter Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos was presented his Black Belt earlier in the week due to his fight in Samurai Fight Combat 2 – Warrior’s Return on Dec 12, 2009 in Curitiba, Parana, Brasil, which he won by KO (Head Kick) – Rd 1 at 1:41. Professional Skateboarder Tom Knox was presented with his Black Belt as well. Tom is a Judo expert who greatly influenced the Streetskating Revolution during the early 90’s and has been making his mark in BJJ competitions!

Cleber concluded the evening by thanking the students and families for attending this special night & supporting the team throughout the year. He wished all a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Congratulations to all the new Cleber Jiu Jitsu Black Belts! Look for some of Cleber’s Black Belts in Superfights at the upcoming 2010 Copa Pacifica!

Cleber presented the five (5) black belts and certificates at the annual holiday and promotions party held on the evening of Friday, December 12th, 2008 at Cleber Luciano Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Huntington Beach, California. Also, Cleber presented many belt promotions, from blue to brown, to other deserving, hard working students.

Also present at the party and participating in the black belt promotions were Chute Boxe’s Rafael Cordeiro and Fabricio Werdum!

At the end of the belt promotions, Cleber spoke of how proud he was of our team’s contribution to and being an integral part of the Gracie Humaita Competition team. He spoke of how his family has grown both personally and within the academy, and emphasized how important it is to maintain this family environment within the academy. He concluded by thanking the students and families for supporting the team and for attending this special night and wished all a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Cleber spoke of how proud he was of this class of Black Belts because many of them started with him and continued to not only train, develop, & teach, but test themselves by entering competitions! Competing is one of many things Cleber continues to instill in his students, win or lose, challenge yourself, go out there & put it on the line! Cleber continued to tell those family members in attendance that a lot of BJJ students are afraid of the stage (competition), to be out there in front of everybody, with nobody able to help, thinking of failing, when in reality, once you step on that mat, you’ve already won!

He spoke of how proud he is to see his family grow within the academy, and emphasized how important it is to maintain this family environment within the academy. He concluded by thanking the students and families for supporting the team and for attending this special night and wished all a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Cleber presented the black belt and certificate at the annual holiday and promotions party held on Friday, December 12th, 2003 at Cleber Luciano Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Huntington Beach, California. The promotion was given in front of a packed house of fellow students, family, & friends with only a few people knowing of his promotion prior to the party (Tim was not one of them). The place erupted with cheers and congratulations as Cleber made the announcement! Tim becomes the first black belt under the watchful eye of Cleber.

Tim began his martial arts training with the Chinese styles in 1972, including ten years of training in China and has been practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 1995. He is an Asian Full-Contact tournament champion, and has won several Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments, including the Copa Pacifica at the blue, purple, and brown belt levels, and is the 2003 Pan-Am champion as a brown belt. Also, he is a submission grappling tournament winner.

Tim presently runs the Shen Wu School of Martial Arts in Garden Grove, California. He has written a couple of books, “Principles, Analysis, and Application of Effortless Combat Throws” in which he authored and “Vol. 1, Passing the Guard – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Details and Techniques” in which he co-authored.
